Fandom: The Amazing Spiderman, Avengers

Title: Let Me Guess
Author: marcicat

Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1900

Characters: Felicity Smoak, Thea Queen

Warnings: mentions of drug use and addiction

Summary: Felicity’s still not sure how Laurel’s business trip led to Thea hanging out in her office.

Author’s Note: I’m torn between my immense dislike for the events that take place on Arrow, and my immense love for the show’s supporting characters.

Title: Monday All Day Long
Author: marcicat

Word Count: 3100
Rating: T

Summary: Not all heroics take place on the front line. (Alternately, maybe SHIELD should maybe just stay closed on Mondays.)

Author’s Note: Includes a few characters from Iron Man: Armored Adventures (the official high school AU).

Summary: Natasha stages a rescue, prompted by Tony, or possibly JARVIS. Inspired by these.

Title: It’s a Puzzle, It’s a Maze
Author: marcicat

Fandom: Avengers, Spiderman, Bourne films, marcicatverse
Word Count: 1300
Rating: G

Summary: A 500-piece jigsaw puzzle wouldn’t be much of a challenge for this group — unless the pieces were hidden.

Author's Note: NaNoWriMo novel Christmas follow-up fic!

Title: Singing in the Light, Laughing in the Dark

Author: marcicat
Wordcount: 50,085
Rating: R (for thematic content)

Fandoms: Bourne movies (including Bourne Legacy), I Am Number Four (movie!verse), Marvel!verse (including Spiderman & the Avengers, mentions of F4 & X-teams), brief cameo appearance by characters from my former nano novels (hi Sabri and PJ!)

Author's Note: Basically, I'm incapable of writing anything without everything taking place in the same universe -- the one where everyone is neighbors and everything turns out okay.

Title: The End Is The Beginning
(an epilogue that's also a prologue)

Author: marcicat
Word count: 1500
Rating: PG-13 (language, attempted/mentioned gun violence)

Fandom: the Bourne movies, but diverging rapidly into the universal crossover that makes up pretty much all of my other writing

Author's Note:  In the movie The Bourne Ultimatum, Nikki Parsons helps Jason Bourne, tanking her own career/old life in the process.  (We see him send her off on her own with the truly crap advice "it gets easier.") James was introduced in Um Tubarao, Saltando, and showed up again in this is how the world begins. (This story assumes the Northville community exists, sans solar flare.)

The End Is The Beginning )
I received a lovely comment on this is how the world begins while I was on my work-cation last week, requesting a list of which characters matched up to which fandoms. (I felt a little overwhelmed when I looked at the list, but I've given it a go!)

Also, my apologies to anyone who tried to read the story on AO3 when it was first posted; the formatting was all wonky. It should be fixed now!

Honestly, I thought it would be easier than this. )
Title: Five Times Flash (Thompson) Met The Avengers
Author: marcicat

Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 5900

Author’s Note: Inspired by The Amazing Spiderman (movie) and, of course, the Avengers (movie), though I couldn’t resist adding in the ‘Phil Coulson as Peter Parker’s high school principal’ concept from the 2012 Spiderman animated series.

Getting called to the front office was generally considered a Bad Thing. He couldn’t even think of anything he’d been caught at recently, which might mean it was nothing. (It was hardly ever nothing.) )
Title: probably just a misunderstanding
Author: marcicat

Wordcount: 2800
Rating: L for language

Summary: Bad guys kidnapped a dark-haired angry sniper and a friendly blond soldier.  They probably should have checked IDs more carefully.

Author's Note: Crossover between The Losers and Marvel's Avengers. Inspired by this post from when I watched The Losers movie.

“But now I really want to read a story where Bucky Barnes from ‘Captain America’ runs into Jensen from ‘The Losers,’ and they’re both like, “wow, you seem kind of familiar” (you know, in a ‘one’s a sniper with a troubled past, one’s a man who wears unlikely outfits and looks like Chris Evans; together they fight crime’ sort of way).”

That’s not really what ended up happening, but who expects werewolves?

*****

Well, that was totally weird.  That was weird, right?  That's not, like, a normal thing during kidnappings for you? )
Title: a walk in the park
Author: marcicat

Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 9250

Summary: First there is jogging, then explosions, then everyone sort of wonders what's happening. Eventually, Pepper gets it all sorted.

Author’s Note: Loosely follows look to the sky for love, warn the neighbors, and howling down the moon. Bucky’s a telepathic werewolf, because that is a seriously handy plot device. Also, the Avengers are awesome, and I like fics with kids in them.

She should have guessed, really, that something would go wrong. There was probably a flowchart about these things hanging somewhere in the SHIELD building. )
I really wanted this to be a 10,000 word fic. Somehow, I thought that would make up for the fact that I've been writing it for three months.

Well, it's not 10,000 words. It's also not a fluffy love story, which it was totally supposed to be. There was, I swear, a whole plan for this fic. Maybe I can write that one next?

Anyway, we're going to see the movie this afternoon, so it's now or never for this one.* Here goes nothing.

Um Tubarão, Saltando

Dom said disappear, he was disappearing. Sao Paulo was Dominic's; the rest of them would scatter, mostly further south or overseas (depending on whether they had any IDs that could get them on a plane). No one had said anything about being bored.

Fandoms included in the party:
Fast and Furious
Deception (the fake movie shown in the movie ‘The Holiday’)
X-Men (a few Gen X kids)
I Am Number Four (movie version)
Burn Notice

(Note: Um, Tubarão, Saltando is the Portuguese equivalent, or as close as I can figure it, to "One Shark, Jumping.")

(*I wrote the last section of this story in the car, on the way to the theater. Totally done before the viewing, just took me a few hours afterwards to get to the posting.)
The Badger Fic From January:

Three (3) reasons why this fic was written:

1. because I thought to myself, "it's January, I should write something"

2. because badgers are internet famous, yo

3. because everyone should have the chance to use the line "It really *was* a robot head" at some point

Title: Christmas in Vegas (En, Nocte Venit Media)
Author: marcicat
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1750

Fandom: Burn Notice, set in the same universe as Ex-Spooks, Guns, and Money. (Michael’s a pagan god, Jesse’s the antichrist, and there’s a kitten somewhere, but none of that’s really important to this story.)

Author's Note: The Latin bit of the title is (should be) 'It Came Upon a Midnight Clear.'

In the spirit of ‘writing something (short) the month after NaNo will keep me from going insane and eating endless packages of Oreo cookies while reading fanfic’ (maybe that’s just me), starandrea and I had a holiday short-off. (She totally won, with the awesome Strange As It Seems (There’s Been A Run Of Crazy Dreams), but only if you assume that musicals are inherently holiday-themed.)

I wrote Four Gifts the 5-0s Gave Each Other for Christmas, which was going to be a five things fic until I realized I couldn’t think of a fifth thing. Four works too, right? In the spirit of keeping things brief, and all. (Final word count: 1560.)

It took me a while to get this one posted, but I'm trying to get everything written in 2010 posted before the year is officially over. Anyway, here's NaNo '10 (story 7, follows Just Another Day, What I Did On My Summer Vacation, The One With the Road Trip, Now I Can See the Moon, Dragon in the Room, and NIMBY).

Title: Advent
(Subtitle: Slowly Approaching a Non-Denominational, Culturally Appropriated Celebration of Joy and Giving)
Author: marcicat
Word Count: 51,425

Summary: Harold and Al do Christmas.

“You’d think we would know if there was a guest book in our own house,” Harold said.

Title: Intervention (5-7-5, like a haiku)
Author: marcicat

Fandoms: White Collar, Psych, Burn Notice, Covert Affairs, Leverage, X-Men
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 12,400

Summary: Barrett’s death sends shockwaves through the shadowy corners of society. Michael’s friends recruit some help and stage an intervention.

Author’s Note: This story started out with three ideas. First, Burn Notice has been really frustrating this season. Second, I’m really sick of the music box storyline on White Collar. And third, I watched one episode of Covert Affairs and was convinced that the most compelling plot wasn’t the one on screen. But since I didn’t have the time or inclination to write a bunch of different fics before NaNoWriMo, I just combined them all into one. The other fandoms are just there for the free food.

Disclaimer: I don't even know how this happened. I finally gave in and added a Glee tag to my blog, but not until today, and I still feel conflicted about it.

Also, in the grand tradition of me naming things, this fic has two titles. Yeah, I couldn’t decide between them, so I just mushed them together with a stylish slash mark.

Title: Sing Goodbye / There’s a Rumor Going Round
Author: marcicat
Rating: PG-13, for language
Word Count: 2600

Author's Note: It's Glee.  I have no idea what else to say.  Takes place after the Season 1 finale.

Title: Parks are for Lovers Liars
Author: marcicat

Rating: PG-13 (violence)
Word Count: 2100

Summary: Coda to 5.02 (the one with the political campaign).

"Who's Timmy Nolan?"

"I have no idea.  You guys have to make him up."

[In my google docs, this story is called LGM (party in Miami). That doesn't have any real significance.]

Author's Note: I realized one day that I've never written a fic with a female POV, and then I thought, "Hey, why not start with Fiona Glenanne?"  Because she's totally BAMF, obviously, and I like Burn Notice a lot but Michael's head is really pretty weird to be deciphering and as for Sam -- well, I'm just now trying to get over the gender discrimination in my writing, I think I'll give myself a little more time to tackle ageism. This story is set directly after the Burn Notice season 3 finale.  Title borrowed from the song "Lawyers, Guns, and Money," which I heard in the car on the way home from work on the last day of April and thought, "Hey, that would make a great story title."

I couldn't resist crossing over the Supernatural characters, despite the name confusion (Michael, Sam, Gabriel).  This takes into account all of SPN Season 5, although I've retconned various elements to better fit the story.

Title: Ex-Spooks, Guns, and Money (send them all, there's a party in Miami)
Author: marcicat
Rating: R

Fandom: Burn Notice, Supernatural
Pairings: Fiona/Michael, Sam/Gabriel, Dean/Castiel

Warnings: Guns.  Explosives.  Angels.  Also, while this fic lacks any real violence, it does reference violent events from both shows.

Summary: After Michael is taken (S3 finale), Fiona and Sam run into the Winchesters and a whole mess of demons.  Various people show up, and everyone waits for Michael.

There's also an prequel kind of thing, that I wrote and posted for starandrea's birthday, waaaaaay back in June. It explains the whole netbook thing.

Title: one moment in mind
Author: marcicat

Rating: PG-13 (If you mention Lucifer, killing, and a pornographic dvd, that automatically bumps you to PG-13, right?)
Wordcount: 950

Summary: A 'Party in Miami' (aka 'story I haven't finished') prequel/outtake, from Sam's POV.  Probably makes the most sense if you've seen SPN season 5.
