Not really fanfic, so it's not going on AO3. I could make an argument that it is essentially RPF, but I don't think I'm famous enough to count. Anyway, here's my nano 2014 story.

Invincible Summer

Author’s Note: Title from an Albert Camus quote: “In the midst of winter, I found there was within me an invincible summer.” Written for NaNoWriMo 2014.

Title: Singing in the Light, Laughing in the Dark

Author: marcicat
Wordcount: 50,085
Rating: R (for thematic content)

Fandoms: Bourne movies (including Bourne Legacy), I Am Number Four (movie!verse), Marvel!verse (including Spiderman & the Avengers, mentions of F4 & X-teams), brief cameo appearance by characters from my former nano novels (hi Sabri and PJ!)

Author's Note: Basically, I'm incapable of writing anything without everything taking place in the same universe -- the one where everyone is neighbors and everything turns out okay.

Title: The End Is The Beginning
(an epilogue that's also a prologue)

Author: marcicat
Word count: 1500
Rating: PG-13 (language, attempted/mentioned gun violence)

Fandom: the Bourne movies, but diverging rapidly into the universal crossover that makes up pretty much all of my other writing

Author's Note:  In the movie The Bourne Ultimatum, Nikki Parsons helps Jason Bourne, tanking her own career/old life in the process.  (We see him send her off on her own with the truly crap advice "it gets easier.") James was introduced in Um Tubarao, Saltando, and showed up again in this is how the world begins. (This story assumes the Northville community exists, sans solar flare.)

The End Is The Beginning )
I received a lovely comment on this is how the world begins while I was on my work-cation last week, requesting a list of which characters matched up to which fandoms. (I felt a little overwhelmed when I looked at the list, but I've given it a go!)

Also, my apologies to anyone who tried to read the story on AO3 when it was first posted; the formatting was all wonky. It should be fixed now!

Honestly, I thought it would be easier than this. )

It took me a while to get this one posted, but I'm trying to get everything written in 2010 posted before the year is officially over. Anyway, here's NaNo '10 (story 7, follows Just Another Day, What I Did On My Summer Vacation, The One With the Road Trip, Now I Can See the Moon, Dragon in the Room, and NIMBY).

NaNoWriMo draws to a close again! Even the nanowrimo site countdown widget seems to be back on track, correctly identifying the hours left as "not many." Luckily, this one squeaked in last night, thanks to *Andrea's brilliant help and suggestions.

Title: NIMBY
Author: marcicat
Word Count: 50260 (if you believe GoogleDocs) or 50195 (if you believe the nano wordcounter)

Summary: Harold and Al wind up with a baby, a dragon, and a truly unique garage door.

"The way you and Al tell this story later is a lot different than this."

Here it is, NaNoWriMo 2008 (nano #5): The Dragon in the Room

This novel was... well, an experience. It's done, which means a huge "yay!" and also a huge "thank you!" to the many people who helped me reach the elusive 50,000 word goal.

It seemed like the only thing left was for the zipper aliens to show up, and engage in some fluttering and head-patting, but the pirates assured them it wasn't going to happen. "They want to help," the captain said. "But their ideas were a little offbeat." Harold could only imagine. A gross of zippers? A really funny-looking hat?

"They sent these," the captain added. He held out two pink flamingo lawn ornaments.

Here's my nano novel from this year -- huge ginormous thanks to [livejournal.com profile] starandrea for formatting it in html and posting it at her website -- thanks starandrea!

This is the fourth in my series of Nano novels, and they're all about the same people, because so far that's seemed a lot easier than making up new characters every year. In this one, Harold and Al have to leave Earth and go into hiding, which works about as well as you might think (in other words, not at all). Wacky hijinks ensue, and about halfway through the novel, I start reintroducing every character I've ever written about, all in the quest for the elusive 50,000.

No warnings, and everything turns out well in the end.

Now I Can See The Moon )
And then we did NaNo again in November, somewhat to the dismay of our parents. This time my characters go on a road trip. I knew that's how I'd remember the story, so it's called, unsurprisingly:

The One With The Road Trip )
So, my sister and I did NaNoWriMo in June of 2006. Not much happens in this novel. Basically, all the characters from the first story hang out, and there are some pirates, and a hurricane.

NaNoWriMo 2: What I Did On My Summer Vacation )
This is my NaNoWriMo novel from 2005. It's about a guy who meets aliens, and then helps them defend their planet against a monkey coup.

Just Another Day

the one that started it all )
